Well ..... The food was ok. It was definitely bland though. It is rated way too high in my opinion. 2 adults and 2 kids .... Waiting on the bill now.... I feel certain I will feel MEH... YEP .. Feeling meh about cost verses food.

Completely random visit, it was the fifth place on the right and that was our criteria. Mussels we're good, especially the sauce. Crab cakes we're good, meaty, but not lumpy, like MD style. Friendly staff. Smaller place, but good mix of couples and families. Open after 4pm.

We showed up without reservations. When we arrived it wasn't busy, thankfully. I can only imagine that during high tourist season that you would need them as this place is not very big. We were seated immediately and the waitress, Donna, showed up acknowledged us and arrived at our table short thereafter. Service throughout the evening was stellar. There was an issue with my fish dish that I ordered being a little raw in the middle. She apologized and offered a dessert in it's place, there was no hesitation. We decided to split the Crab Stuffed Tilapia and the Seafood Sorrento, although we could have just ordered one and shared that dish. We added a small salad, however there was nothing small about this salad. Nice variety of fresh veggies and a peppercorn ranch dressing. The Long Fin Tilapia with blue crab stuff and lemon buerre blanc was wonderful and very large. I think the largest piece of tilapia that I've ever seen. The crab stuffing was nice and didn't have a lot of filler. The Seafood Sorrento was a huge portion as well. It contained shrimp, clams, squid, mussels and fish served over pasta in a cream or marinara sauce. We opted for the cream sauce. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the dishes on the menu. If you want good service ask for Donna, she'll take very good care of you during your meal.

Great restaurant! Would eat there again for sure. Family friendly, the food was awesome and the portions were very generous. Our waitress, Donna, was friendly, knowledgable on menu items, and attentive to the needs of the table. 5 Stars from our family.

I just tried this restaurant with my boyfriend since we were in the area and it was pretty awful all around. The ambience is very dated, it was too warm inside, and the booth was uncomfortable. Drinks were very subpar. One was watery and the other straight from a mix, both ridiculously sweet. We waited 45 minutes for our two entrees. I ordered the lobster linguini which has zero seasoning and lacked any type of flavor. The sauce was watery and just sat in a pool in the bottom of the dish. There was only three small lobster chunks and they were rubbery and overlooked. My boyfriend got the black and blue burger and it was alright but cooked very thoroughly, which was a surprise since the server didn't even asked how he wanted it cooked. I would never come here again, what a waste of time.

Looked for a good seafood restaurant to take the family to on the island. Ran across this place on yelp and thought we would try it. We were not disappointed! Food and service were both excellent and the helpings were quite large. The prime rib was off the chain! Donna was an amazing server. Could my recommend this place enough!

My wife and I over several years have eaten at Sharky's. However, we have tried the prime rib a few times and it was a total disappointment. The cut of meat was processed and was not fresh. After this last visit we will no longer be returning.

My family and I had made reservations for 6. When we got there we were greeted at the door by a nice woman (possibly the owner). The bar was absolutely beautiful. We get to our table which I believe was placed there that night. Both sides of the table were falling down. We had to be careful were to set our drinks or else they'd spill. Also had to be sure not to lean on the table or our food could have landed in our laps. We ordered calamari and the shark bites for appetizers which were both very good. Overall the food was good. Be careful if you order the surf and turf though, the lobster was extremely tough and over cooked. Our server was nice and did a good job. Only thing I'd recommend to her is not to come and grab the check until after we left. I am a server, it's just rude.

We came here for a late night dinner. There were very few diners since it was a weekday. The hostess/owner was very friendly, warm and funny! Her husband is the owner chef who chatted with us after we inquired about a wedding picture hanging by the bar. The four of us ordered a variety of dishes and we were all very happy with the presentation and preparation. We loved the food, the service and the location! Highly recommended.

  • Tara G.

Sharky's was bustling when we got there at 7:30PM. We had a reservation but it was worth the wait. The hostess accommodated our booth request. Lobster linguini and Key West grouper were delicious. We had lobster roll and Mako bites for appetizers. Unique and crunchy. Also, the setting (across from the beach) and the company (friends we've known for 16 years) made it an unforgettable evening.

  • Lindsay G.

We stopped here w/ some friends for a small bite/drink on the way to a nearby wedding. The bartender was a friendly lady and the service was good. The two stars is mainly for the food. Both my hubbie and his friend said their burger and chicken sandwich was dry and the bread was stale. T As for me and my friend, we loved our mussels and shark bites. The shark bites only had a thing layer of batter and were nice chunks of delicious black tip shark meat. Food came out promptly. So I'd return if I were in the area, but wasn't amazed by Sharky's...sorry.

  • Steve C.

Went there with a party of six looking for a grouper sandwich. Succeeded in finding said sandwich. Kids ordered fried, wife and I ordered Cajun. Fried had to be sent back bc they were under cooked. Staff was very accommodating and attentive. Food was above average and priced in line with other spots on the island.

Good seafood and great atmosphere. Only reason didn't give 5 stars was service a bit slow, waitress not as attentive with us. But overall great fresh seafood, reasonable prices.

The drinks were excellent, the calamari was delicious, and my girlfriend and I had the Shark on the Barbie since it's one of the traditional dishes and it was also delicious. Environment was nice too. Romantic setting. Nice place.

This was perhaps one of the best dining experiences we have had in a good while. From the great drinks to the outstanding food,we were pleasantly surprised on every dish that was brought to our table by an amazing staff. Suzan is as good as they come. She was very accommodating without being pushy. She has a great personality that makes you feel welcome. Every aspect of this dining experience was outstanding. You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not visit this place.

Tonight we had Chef's special, Seafood Newburg. It was filled with lobster ,shrimp, scallops, and sea bass in a lobster sherry sauce. It is one of the best meals we have had on AMI and we have been on the island in March for 22 years. We also enjoyed Happy Hour special appetizers. The island music was delightful. Our first visit will not be our last.

When you walk in you are very surprised by the elegant interior. Very pretty old school steak house kind of feel. We really liked that. The service was very good. The server knew the menu well and made a lot of good-suggestions. We started with the signature shark bites. These were great. I think the order was a bit small for the price literally 5 maybe 6 small bites as opposed to the baskets of grouper bites we have been ordering all over the island this week. I ordered the fish chowder. It was good it did lack some flavor and seasoning. I had to add salt and pepper and I still felt like it was missing something. I also ordered the tortellini with Gorgonzola . This was not good. Pasta was clearly out of a frozen food bag and the sauce thick and gooey. The pasta was also under cooked. Not al dente, Chewy and under cooked. My husband had a special which he said was very good. The bread was good. Over all it was good I think I would go back to try some other things, just stay away from that terrible tortellini . Again the service was great and we loved the ambiance .

  • Brad P.

I like the atmosphere inside. To me the food was just ok but server did a really great job. The fried shark bites appetizer was good. I ordered a trio with a tiny portion of red snapper (2 oz) with 2 scallops and 3 oysters. Side of mashed potato and veggie medley. I would probably come back here.

    (3)
  • Mike C.

The salmon was cut so as to include the belly meat so it cooked unevenly so the belly was done well and the side was a bit under cooked the carrots in the mixed veggies were the lathed type "cheap" as for my wife's dish it only had four small pieces of lobster and the noodles needed flavor, garlic? Artichoke hearts? Slim if any as far as the service I was ready to drink ocean water as our waitress with only 8 other people to wait on was sure to ask how we were doing, not how the food was overall could have done better at home

Beautiful location, love the shark over the door! Very creative. Was greeted warmly by the hostess. Had a party of 4 adults and 3 children, they accommodated us with no problem. Owner/ manager was very friendly with us and especially the children. The food was excellent, I ordered the Veal Parmagaian. It came very tender and perfectly cooked. My wife had the Shark on the Barbie, which she loved. Children's portions were generous, fish and chips were excellent. Highly recommend Sharky's, best place I've eaten on the island so far!

I'm giving this poor excuse of a restaurant a 1 star simply because I cannot give it none. The only good thing we experienced here was the shark bite appetizer. We ordered two cocktails, one of which was just subpar, and the other was basically just an overpriced glass of overly sweetened juice, which we kindly informed them was pretty much undrinkable after having a small sip, only to be rudely asked what she wanted us to do about it. We requested a beer instead, and she huffed away with a huge attitude and told us she'd have to check with the bartender. Every establishment I've ever been to has had no problem with taking a menu item back, may it be a drink or meal. We were blown away by her lack of professionalism and hospitality. She returned with a beer and we went on ordering our food. The food overall was subpar. We carried on eating our meals, requested takeaway boxes and the check. When we got our check we realized that the drink we sent back was still on the check, so we informed our waitress. The waitress responded with we can't take it off. You know what you ordered.. She said I can get the mananger so I agreed. At this point I heard the bartender and OWNER say is he still here? At this point I left the booth and confronted both of them. The owner acted as if she had the situation under control the whole time. She eventually took the 7$ drink off my tab and charged me 3.50$ for a draft beer. The place is overpriced as is, but our anger doesn't stem from the difference of a few dollars over the returned drink. Instead the complete lack of respect. Hands down the most unprofessional and disrespectful service I have received in my life. I will never be going back and warn everyone who reads this to do the same.

We ate here on Monday, March 24 at 8:15 PM. Called ahead of time to make a reservation for 7 and the hostess could not have been friendlier. Once there, we were seated immediately and cocktails were served quickly after that. I had shark, others in our group had grouper, pasta in vodka sauce, the kids had cheese burgers. I'm a fan! Our server was sweet, kind, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly as was the bartender who corked the bottle of wine we chose. Felt like we were treated like locals, like family. Pub/Comfort food like atmosphere. Full bar. No live entertainment the night we were there, kind of sorry I missed it. Definitely on the top of my list for a return visit next year!

Every meal we have had so far has been great. Everything is fresh and tasty, from the fish, to the salad and bread & butter. The restaurant and bar are very nice and clean. The hostesses and waitresses are cordial and efficient. The bar is fully stocked, but pricey. Parking places are sparse, so if you are staying near enough, I recommend walking in.

Not impressed. Service was ok. Food over priced. Grouper very fishy. Ordered the special baseball fillet which was not tender. The eight people i was with agree...Enough said.

Ok, so were on an island and what better way to celebrate that fact than going to a place called Sharky's to enjoy what else... Prime rib? Yep, i said it, prime rib but not just prime rib, great prime rib! Cut it with a fork, melt in your mouth midwestern great prime rib! I was expecting to get an after thought of a hunk of meat, especially at the penny pinchin price of near 15 bucks! Granted, that was the happy hour special (4-6pm) but even the full price, had it been paid would have been wort it! Sided with flavorful red skin taters and a veggie medley it all made for a great meal. Then the waitress shows up with the dessert display, oh the audacity! On this tray was a gem called... CHOCOLATE MADNESS ( heavy on the echo and reverb) , to all that is labeled dessert, why would some culinary genius, not genius but deity create such a thing? She ( the waitress)called it cake but since when does cake have lil crunchy bits in it and rivers of warm gooey fudge coming out of it? It is aptly named because the madness comes in ones desperate need to relive that complete dessert utopian satisfaction again and again! By the way, great staff and a high end atmosphere, make this an unexpected and greatly welcomed surprise! Thanx to the people at Sharky's! Applause!

Excellent food! Four star food to be certain! The service was exceptional. There was live entertainment that was very enjoyable. We spent 5 days on Anna Maria Island. No other restaurant compared to the excellent food served here! A must if you visit here!

Loved it! We were a group of 13 all the way visiting from Seattle and we were extremely well served. The owners are a nice couple who clearly have been in the business a long time and they take great pride in their establishment. The wife was the hostess and the husband is the cook. All 13 of us thought we got a wonderful meal. And the best part was the dessert tray. Key lime pie and creme brûlée were both awesome.

The food at this place was way overpriced and pretty sure the seafood was frozen. I had the grouper and it tased fishy. My sister in law had seared tuna and sent it back because it tasted horrible and had no seasoning. I would not recommend this place at all. You could save a lot of $$$ and have better tasting food if you ordered pizza.

I made a reservation a few days ago since they offered it on their website. I wanted to make sure we didn't wait and I didn't know how busy they would be on a Saturday. We arrived and half the place was empty so no issues. We were immediately seated and a waitress took our drink order. We ordered shark bites for an appetizer and they came quickly and were very good. Our soups and bread arrived a few minutes later followed by our entrees. All the food was hot and delicious. The whole restaurant was clean and very nice to be in. It is a little expensive but worth it. I would love to come back again!

  • Jeffrey F.

Nice ambiance but really poor execution on the food. My Ahi salad had slimy greens, like the kind you find at the bottom of the bag when it sits in the fridge too long. The cut of tuna had connective tissue in it like salmon, not the smooth pink tuna I usually get. They did take the price of the salad off the bill but I'd lost my appetite by then. Not recommended.

  • Ashley B.

I love this place. I've come here a few times with the fam and it's got pretty decent surf and turf. I also love that the kitchen is open late, til about midnight on most occasions. Perfect time to order some shark bites, which are delicious! The one thing I'll say is kind of off is the lady that comes in and sings everytime we're there. She's a lounge singer and has a decent voice, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. As far as the atmosphere goes, this place is cozy, kind of a hole in the wall, but dim and dark and has a nice little bar area. If you're ever in the area, I'd recommend it!

Locals do not go here. They discourage people that live on the island from coming there. They don't want the word of mouth to get around that their food is terrible and overpriced. They can be very rude. Listen up tourists, all they want is your money, the food is terrible. In fact, what tourists don't know about all the resturants is that from the cheaper resturant to the expensive one, all the food on the island comes off the same food truck company. So, that $5 burger is the same as the $15 one (as is every other food item). True story. Price means nothing. It just depends on the greed and ego of the establishment. Most people that cook and serve have cooked and served for every resturant on the island. The owner cooks here and can't keep wait staff or kitchen staff, so the owners pretty much are the ones fixing up the hot mess on your plate. Now, I can't say the same thing about the cocktails. They can mix a drink. But that's about the size of it.

My husband and I were staying on Anna Maria Island for our birthday week (March 10-March 18). We ate at several restaurants on the Island during our stay and Sharky's was by far the most disappointing. We decided to try Sharky's based on some of the other reviews we read on Yelp. It started off well when we were seated immediately even though the place appeared to be quite busy. We ordered our drinks (plain tonic water with lime) while we took a look at the menu. We both ordered the Prime Rib (again based on Yelp reviews). We both added a salad because they were not included. When our waitress brought our salads I asked for a refill on our tonic. She advised that refills were not free so I said I would have water instead. Our waitress brought one water even though my husband needed a refill as well. Then we proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait. The people at the table behind us were seated about 15 minutes after we were and had the same waitress that we had. Another server brought out two orders of Prime Rib and delivered them to that table. Our waitress came by and I inquired about our order. She said that the printer in the kitchen had gone down but our dinner would be out shortly. After another wait of about 10 minutes, she finally delivered our food. Both cuts were extremely fatty. Even after trimming the fat we could see, once we bit into our first piece, there was more fat. We told our server and she agreed that the pieces we received did not look good. She brought out two more pieces. For some unexplained reason, these pieces had a brown gravy poured over them and had a piece of rosemary stuck in them. They did not look as fatty so we both cut into them and took a bite. My piece was ice cold. Now I understood why they brown gravy was poured over it. They were obviously trying to cover up the fact that these pieces of Prime Rib had been reheated in the microwave. By this time, I was done. We told our waitress that we would be happy to pay for our salads but wanted the Prime Rib taken off of our bill. The owner/chef (?) came out and basically spoke to us as if we did not know anything about Prime Rib. We went back to our resort hungry because it was nearly 10:00 p.m. The entire experience was horrible. I cannot recommend this place.

I've got to say I was a bit disappointed with this place. My husband and I were at dinner with some long time friends who we'd not seen in a few years and were looking forward to dinner out without the kids. We chose Sharkey's because it had seafood as well as burgers - so it was something for everyone. My friend and I both ordered burgers - medium well and when we got them they were extremely pink in the middle. We kindly asked the server to send it back and she did, only to receive them less than 3-5 minutes later. The second time they were still undercooked. I was surprised that after this incident management never checked back in with us to make sure that everything was to our liking. In fact, when the server came back at the end of the meal to grab our plates and we told her our burgers were still under cooked she simply replied, "I'm sorry" and brought out the bill. When we approached management about not paying for a meal that was only half eaten he proceeded to argue with us about what a medium well burger looks like and how long he'd been in the restaurant business. Finally he took the meal off the bill. Argh, awful business etiquette. Anyways, I guess the seafood is good and I was pleased with my martini. However, let's just hope that you don't have to send anything back to the kitchen while eating at Sharkey's because sadly, I don't think that management really cares if you're happy or not.

We ate at many restaurants on the island during our week stay on AMI, and Sharkey's was by FAR the worst. Our food was way overpriced, one burger was raw in the center, another was burnt, one had piled onions on top that was not ordered. When I told the waitress I didn't order or want onions, she didn't offer to take it back and still charged me for them. Kids ordered Coke, and it was flat and gross, even the water tasted funny, how can you mess up water? It's so dark in there, looks like an outdated 1970's bar, and not one person was friendly. The waitresses stand in one corner of the restaurant and just stare at your while you're eating, really strange. I would never eat here again and highly recommend you don't waste your money. Check out AMI Pier restaurant for all around good food, beautiful view and friendly service, trust me on this!

Worst experience! There were 6 of us for dinner, we sat at the bar waiting for our table...asked for a Kendal Jackson wine, they ran out mid-pour--so they added half a glass of other wine to the glass. Then they were out of several choices. One person in our party found a hair in there salad, while another member was served food on a dirty plate. The waitress acted like it was her 1st day. After mentioning to her about the quality of our food the chef (owner ) came out and we thought there was going to be a fight when he heard that we had complained about the food quality. Save your money and go somewhere else!!!!

Decent seafood and American fare. Want to go to a decent place that doesn't have to make your eyes widen or your wallet flat? If so, stop for a big bite at Sharkey's. I wouldn't break up my plans to go off-island to eat here though. Also, if seeing something written from George W. Bush makes you lose your appetite then this isn't the place to stop at.

I rounded down to two stars; wanted to give it 2 1/2. Ate here the week of Christmas when we were staying on Anna Maria Island. This review is based on my meal, which was the crab cakes. The crab cakes were almost all bread crumbs, and they tasted like they were fried in old cooking oil. I had only two bites and didn't eat any more of them. I also had the seafood chowder which wasn't bad, but I've had better. I will state that other people in our group enjoyed their meals; someone had the mussels, another had the MI pork chop. For the money, I'd recommend going somewhere else.

What a great spot! Don't let the tacky shark on the front of the building scare you off. When you walk in its like you've been transported to a time when going out to dinner was a treat and those serving you are glad you came. Save time to sit at the old style bar first for a cocktail and usually some live musicians singing and playing. The meal was phenomenal. I really liked the shark bites for appetizers and the rest of my meal was also great. I was there with 7 other people and everyone was raving about the food. The service could not have been friendlier and more attentive. This place is a must stop if you're in Anna Maria Island.

Upon first walking in the door, you will be pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere. it is very classy on the inside vs the outside, which makes you think it's a simple family owned bar & grill. I had a Guinness with dinner which was poured perfectly, while my girlfriend had a margarita, which was also excellent. They make their own sour mix! As for the food, I ordered the Chefs cut prime rib, medium rare, which was cooked perfectly and could not have been tastier! We also ordered the grouper sandwich, which was also excellent! The filet was very thick, cooked perfectly and very tender. I'm glad we decided to still try this place after reading the other review about the undercooked burger experience...don't count this place out!

Very disappointed. After reading reviews here and on Google I was expecting more than bland overlooked fish. Not cheap either when you consider the quality of the food. That said, service was good and our waitress was friendly and attentive.

We went to Sharkys after reading the two reviews on Yelp. We did not have the culinary experience described by the previous reviewers. The shark bites were half delicious - meaning the white meat ones were great. The brown/gray ones were unswallowable. The bread was tasteless and the house salad was meager with too few choices of dressing. The broiled grouper was very good and the Thai scallop special was flavorful and well prepared. SKIP THE SIDES! Pudding-like mashed potatoes and frozen mixed veggies. And now a word about the entertainment... Saturday Night Live skit ... Remember Bill Murray at The Lizard Lounge? We actually enjoyed the European patrons almost giving him a standing O.

Wish I could do no stars because that's what this place should get. After an hour wait for a table for 12 we were told they could not accommodate a party of 12 and she didn't know why the bartender would have told us they could. So we suggested that she seat us at different tables, which she did. They were out of a lot of things and didn't tell us upon ordering but like an hour after. I ordered a trio of fish and I took one bite and couldn't eat it as it was bad, when I told the server she argued with me that fish should taste fishy. Their soda gun was not working so they were serving soda out of old 2 litre bottles that were flat and the server knew it and when we complained she didn't do anything about it. Took forever for the food to come out. We ordered a burger without the bun(gluten free allergy) they served it on the bun and then just took the bun off which if you have an allergy or are gluten free you cannot do that! Server kept apologizing for all the things but yet still argued with me and actually walked away as we were trying to tell her the fish was bad. How rude! Chef Ramsey would have a field day here! Don't waste your money here until he shows up to fix things!

My wife and I went based on the reviews here. Overall, we were both underwhelmed. Ambiance wasn't bad, however; staff seemed a bit aloof, and the food was a bit bland in taste and presentation. I ordered the Black and Bleu Burger, my wife the nearly $25 sirloin strip. Mine was crumbly served with fries that were of the frozen variety, and my wife's was a bit chewy. Only redeeming element was our server, though she was a tad awkward; perhaps she noticed we were less than pleased ...
